What is panzer granate?

Panzergranate is a German term meaning "tank grenade". It refers to a type of anti-tank grenade used during World War II by German soldiers to combat armored vehicles. The Panzergranate was essentially a hollow-charge grenade, which used the shaped charge principle to concentrate the explosive force of the device against a small point of a tank's armor, piercing it and allowing the explosive to penetrate the interior of the vehicle. The basic design of the Panzergranate included a conical metal cone, a charge of explosives, and a detonator. The weapon was effective against all but the most heavily armored tanks of the time, and was one of the most common anti-tank weapons used by German troops in the latter stages of the war.
